Geographe

The shallow clear waters of Geographe Bay in Western Australia invite a cooling dip on a hot summer day.

Extending from Cape Naturaliste in the south, but Bunbury in the north, Geographe bay was named my French explorer Nicolas Baudin in 1801.

The protected waters are ideal for boating, and this line-up of catamarans was impossible to resist as a panoramic photography subject with the blue clear water as the backdrop.

There is plenty of spectacular coastline for an Australian landscape photographer to be occupied for a lifetime, however I have perhaps never seen such spectacular blue, pristine water as in the south-west region of Western Australia.

The cool blue colours belie the true temperature of the day, which were the high 30’s (around 100 Fahrenheit). It reminds me of summer and good times, and of Western Australia to which I return as often as possible.
