The last hint of daylight melts into the darkness of night at this picturesque boat house on Perth’s Swan River, Western Australia.

As if lit on command, the ‘Mittens’ of Monument Valley on the Arizona-Utah border appear to ignite as the late afternoon sun strikes the weathered iron oxide siltstone of ‘The Valley of the Rocks’ (Tsé Bii’ Ndzisgaii).

A fleeting shaft of sunlight penetrates the narrow Navajo sandstone of Antelope Canyon, Arizona (Tsé bighánílíní, which means ‘the place where water runs through rocks’).

The fine, white sand of Cape Le Grand in Western Australia gives the clear, cold waters of Thistle Cove an incandescent glow.
